I am a licensed social worker in the state of Maryland, where I provide counseling to children, adolescents, and adults. Throughout my career, I have focused on working with survivors of trauma in several different roles, including shelter advocate, crisis counselor, and trauma therapist. I have gained insight into the challenges of interacting with systems designed to protect us but often duplicate dynamics of power and control, which can be re-traumatizing. I aim to hold a safe place and cultivate a warm, authentic, and caring relationship in my work. I consider you to be the expert on your lived experiences and thus use a collaborative approach to set and reach your goals. I am familiar with the common approaches to treatment, but use an eclectic approach, including strength-based, client-centered, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, somatic experiencing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, as well as Play Therapy. I see clients ages 6 and up.
