I am a board certified Physician Assistant with over 25 years of clinical practice. After receiving my bachelor’s degree from The University of Maryland I entered the Physician Assistant program at George Washington University where I attained a second bachelor’s degree. For a short time I worked in occupational medicine before starting a family. I received my master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from The Medical University of South Carolina.
For most of my career I have worked in addiction medicine (inpatient and outpatient) and psychiatry. It has been disheartening to see the numbers of people battered by addiction continue to increase over the years. My goals include listening to my patients and not just hearing them, and encouraging education and tools for self help and growth. Addiction often materializes from mental health struggles and I want to best treat both. I’ve worked with adults suffering from depression/mood disorders and anxiety as well as addictions. It is always in the best interest of the patient to see the “big picture” and work toward incorporating overall wellness in addition to utilizing the aid of medications for treatment.
